With present unemployment rates growing according to the U.S. Department of Labor, we need to research different options to make a living. Luckily, there is one income producing opportunity today that millions of people have successfully pursued and others are exploring everyday:  starting a home-based business.

History shows that starting a business in a recession can be good and lead to success. Do you know that some corporations listed on the major stock markets today started up in the midst of recessions, including last century’s Great Depression?

Of course there is no guarantee you will make more money than working as an employee but it has the potential to do so. And with your own business, you are guaranteed nobody will fire you.
If you decide to go ahead and open your own Home-Based Business you will need to do a little research before starting-up.Let me give you one important tip that can save you a huge headache.  Choose one with low start up costs. It is not easy to convince people to invest a lot of money when they don’t know you, the product and the company. Sometimes they will jump on this idea only because there are a few bucks involved and think: “I don’t have anything to lose and everything to gain”.

If you decide to open your home-based business you will need to have the right attitude for entrepreneurship. Successful entrepreneurs are self-starters, risk-

takers, and creative problem-solvers, persistent and good networkers. Once you have been awarded these qualities and decide this is the business model for you, go forward and you will succeed.

Look for a good product, such as those which most of the people are talking about.  This way it will be easy for you to introduce it. I do not believe it is a good idea to try too many different products. Some of this “new entrepreneurs” do that but you can’t show people more than one product at the same time. You need to believe what you have so everybody can believe it.

Are you looking to expand your multi level marketing business and add clients to your data base? It is not enough to just put your website out there. SEO’s (Search Engine Optimization) rules change daily, and some businesses are in categories that are populated with thousands of competitors.

E-mails is not the best option either, most people delete them without even opening them. So ask yourself: What can I do? Well, you will not like my answer, but cold calling is the answer. Most professionals avoid cold calling, but it can be highly successful if you approach people with the proper attitude.

One of the problems that people face is “Fear of Rejection”. Remind yourself that people don’t reject you personally. Many of the rejections happen because they have been burned by cold callers and telemarketers in the past. Don’t take their coldness personally.

Start every call with a sincere desire to see that your prospect gets what he wants, whether or not he gets it from you. Always be interested in your prospect rather than just advocating for them to buy your services or products. Honestly expressing an interest in them and remembering that you are there to provide a service. Multi level marketing is a business that help people.

Never forget what your goal is when making call. It is not about making the sale, it is about listening to your potential client and making the appointment where you can further discuss their problems and/or concerns. It is not about you, it is about them.

I am not saying that cold calling is something easy to do. You may freeze at the prospect of picking up the phone even before you make the call, but you can anticipate the objection and be ready for a good answer, so long as you do your homework on the person you are calling before you make that call.

Remember that timing is everything. Don’t get discouraged, you may call a potential client at the wrong time, but if you try calling them again at another time, it could be the best experience of your life. I have some people that hung up on me but I don’t quit, I follow up with them so I can reach my goal.

You can reach yours also. Use this technique to increase any business.

Network Marketing is a way to distribute products and services directly from the manufacturer to the consumer, easing the way the consumer gets the product and generating monetary gains at the same time.

If we think of a traditional business, in order for it to function properly, it requires huge investments to start it, and continuous payments in order to make it grow and maintain it.  It is also necessary for products to go through middle men such as exporters, retailers, etc.  The problem with this is all those middle men make the cost of the final product much higher.  Each one of them receive their share of the profits and it makes the commercial margins extremely low, with much investment of time and money in order to make the business grow. 

Network Marketing is a form in which the maker introduces it’s product under “Business Opportunity”.  This does not mean selling door to door. It is simply a very intelligent way for the consumer to take advantage of its benefits and make money with them as well. 

There are many myths in the Network Marketing (MLM) industry, but the reality is that it is the fastest growing industry world wide. 

According to statistics, sales through MLM today surpass the $80,000,000 annually and more than twenty five million people are working in some sort of MLM business.  Today there are two thousand companies world wide using this system in order to distribute their products.

In the future, when someone talks about Network Marketing, MLM or Multilevel Marketing, after reading this report, you will know exactly what they are talking about.  I don’t think it necessary to wonder if the system works or not since the reality and statistics are strong enough to take away any doubt.  It’s impossible to think twenty five million people in the world are wrong, don’t you think?

There will always be negative people who will have something bad to say about this type of business.  The way I see it is, it is impossible to say this system does not work when there’s companies who have been implementing this form of distribution of products and services for over 40 years.  Obvious examples are Rehnborg, Herbalife, Avon and Mary Kay to name a few.  I am just trying to make it clear that we are not talking about a brand new industry, it may be for you, but not for the rest of the world.

I do not know if in today’s society there is another system which provides an income to anyone the way network marketing, also known as, MLM, Multilevel Marketing or Direct Selling, does.

You Want to be a Work At Home Mom: Get Your Family on Your Side

Taking on a home business venture is difficult enough. Getting your family to support you may be the difference between your business success and failure. From your family’s point of view, this working at home thing has both it’s good and bad points.

Your “too young for school” age children love having you at home because they like doing things with you, whether it’s baking cookies or playing in the sandbox.

Your school age children find it pretty handy having mom at home to drive them to their soccer games or have their friends over to play. They even like having you come to school to volunteer in their classroom.

Teenagers are a harder sell. They like that you can drive them to the mall or bring them to work. They however may not be really fond of the fact that you always seem to be around.

Now your husband probably sees both sides. He loves that his wife is home taking care of the house and the kids and making a nice supper each evening. He’s even proud of what and says he supports you in what you are doing and may even be amazed at how you manage to pull it all off and make it seem easy.

He’s not as keen on the fact that your income has dropped if you used to have a “real” job and are not making the same amount of money as a WAHM (Work at Home Mom). He probably is not too crazy about the idea of having to pitch in more in the evenings so that you can get some work done. You’re busier when he wants some attention and he has trouble understanding why, when you’re home all day, you need to work in the evening.  

The hardest person to get onboard may be your husband. He may not be convinced that you’ll actually make any money with your venture.

So how do you overcome your family’s objections to your working at home and get them on your side? Holding a family conference to discuss the issue is probably a good first step. During this conversation it’s important for everyone to have their say and to share their feelings. By hearing what your children and husband think and how they perceive your home business venture, you’ll know how best to explain your ideas.

Try to elicit a promise of your spouse’s support for at least a period of several months, so you will have some time to get up and running. If he is very much opposed to your venture at least try to arrive at a compromise with him. Perhaps suggest that if you’re not showing an income after a specified period of time, you’ll give it up, put it on hold for awhile, or go back to work.

Come to some mutual agreement that you can both live with. This is how it becomes a win/win situation. You’ll work even harder to prove you can do it and he’ll be happy knowing that there will be a resolution.

Your family needs to realize the benefits of you working at home rather than outside the home. Point out how much extra help you’d need and the extra chores they’d have to do if you weren’t working at home. This is usually a pretty persuasive argument when it comes to the kids and maybe even your husband too.

Talk about your feelings regarding having your own home business and how important it is to you that they support you. The guilt card, when used properly, can be very effective.

Involve everyone in the decision about your venture.  Listen to each and every family member and take their feelings into consideration and ask that they do the same for yours. You can even try offering rewards for their support. They don’t have to be monetary awards either, spending time together and showing them how readily available you can be to them when they need you will help you be on the way to getting and keeping your family squarely on your side.
